Building for you…

Desert Sky Builders™ is not like every other Builder under the sun. We’re unique in the fact we see Home Building as a project in which the most important stakeholder in each and every project is YOU, the new Buyer. That’s why the entire process is centered on you. From beginning to end all the steps in the home building process are clearly laid out and defined for the Buyer.

As the creator of Desert Sky Builders™, I spent twenty years in the high-end computer industry overseeing projects that involved assets and stakeholder clients from the Fortune 500 business environment. These companies demanded excellence, vision and skill in carrying out their needs of bettering their businesses while at all times staying within their budgets.

Now, as before, I’ve brought together the best subcontractors, vendors and materials to work effectively to bring about successful projects in building custom Homes. I bring that same compassion, drive, and determination in building custom homes for my clients as I did in the computer industry. In college, I started out studying to be an Architect and later moved into the computer world. I combined my love for Architecture with my analytical experience in project management to create a company where “Form Follows Function”. (famous quote by one of my favorite Architects - Louis Sullivan)

I call myself a “heat seeker”, with a drive and desire to build a better home and not follow the traditional paths others have followed in building custom homes. Desert Sky Builders™ uses many technical innovations such as electro static dust collectors, heated mesh flooring and tankless water heaters. Some ideas or new paths are as simple as using extra blown insulation in ceilings and walls, doubling the R factor, adding little to the cost of the home but saving the home buyer a lot in energy costs.

I’m proud to still be member of PMI (Project Management Institute) which brings the same strict guidelines set forth by that organization into building homes as it did in the computer industry. Desert Sky Builders™ is also a proud member of Energy Star® labeled homes and continues to seek out and work with Green Initiatives such as Build Green New Mexico and USGBC (U.S. Build Green Council). I’m an active member of the Las Cruces Home Builders Association (LCHBA) and have been a Director on the LCHBA board for over three years.

All of my projects begin with a Scope of Work where the clients are able to see in detail what their home will entail with agreed upon options and work from the front walk to the backyard landscaping. This document is combined with a Sales contract that includes input from the client for desired expectations by both builder and client. Next there is a Project Control Path Matrix which is given and reviewed with each client so you will always be aware of when and where your input will be needed. This is your home, in which your vision, dreams and wishes come to life and it all becomes a reality. My Goal is for your own personality to come through in the new home Desert Sky Builders™, with your help, created together.

Desert Sky Builders™ understands, as in any project, “communication” is critical for all parties involved to be comfortable in the process. This greatly reduces the stress of not feeling in control of the building of your dream home. For this reason, you are provided with a Buyer’s Item Checklist which is very helpful in knowing what the steps are in the building of your home, when to make your selections, helpful tips on making those selections and help from the builder, along with my Interior Decorator, Joy Akers, on what to choose.

I know that building a home, like planning a major project, follows closely the fundamentals of all projects where the constraints are listed as Scope, Time and Cost; where each side represents a constraint. One side of the triangle cannot be changed without impacting the others. There’s a well known phrase in the professional project management world where these three constraints have given rise to the phrase "On Time, On Spec, On Budget". The “Spec” is defined as the Scope of Work, or what the client called for in building their dream.

I appreciate the opportunity to be your Builder and I look forward to working with you in making your dream a reality. Please feel free in going to my website www.SKY-LC.com or calling me at 575-640-5736.

Most Gratefully,

John G. Hadley
